Interim rule for track stud length in Sno-Cross

With the advent of snowmobile tracks that have track lugs of various heights, it has become necessary to reevaluate the allowable length and method for measurement of track studs.

The Sno-Cross Rules Committee has decided to implement the following interim rule in order to maintain the spirit of the existing rule and to avoid undo risk to drivers.

         -and-

Page 111, MEASUREMENT OF TRACTION DEVICES

The current rule states that no traction device shall extend more than 3/8 inch above the highest point of the track.

THE NEW, INTERIM RULE IS:

No traction device shall extend more than 3/8 inch above the top of the shortest lug of the track. Notches in the tops of the lugs should not be considered as the shortest lug (see illustration).
